The land of lies

by Sal Haefling

you hold my hands so tightly
in that colorful room,
telling me of my advancements in life
as i keep back the tears from falling
outside of my eyeballs

there was a stillness with you
and i don't believe one bit of it
as you tell me of lies and assume
that i will put my trust in you

long ago i would have harsh
resentments about times like these
but now i remain trembling
wiping dust from your table as you
spout off your self-centered tunes

I hear a lot of heavy resolve in this. Makes me feel glad to know the voice.
