Nashville

by Meghan Helmich

I've been shaping memories,
tin can cities rolling across the floor,
of things that have not happened.

We held tight in front of the flower gardens
that spilled into the street.

You picked the lock to the antique store
and we undressed to dusty records.

We spent hours in the abandoned house next door
telling each other about each of our scars.

You kissed me so many times.
