it's

by Charlie Morgan

a glossary of feelings are painted across the clouds,
reading 'follow me to the horizon'.
and the carrot-horizon, ever dangling,
stays ahead, always ahead as we ask for rain.

each living being from gopher to granite;
from sea lion to l.s.d. pusherman;
crawls with bloody fingernails westward.
an illusion fulfilled, fortified, accepted.

we all participate in an illusion;
psychiatrists collect rent for all
those people in your head.

my neighbor, fool that he is, thinks
the world is about him. as i said, fool!
when it is entirely about me, myself and i.

I do adore your sense of things, Mr. Morgan!!! I love the bit about the docs who collect rent for all the people living in our heads. Although, I must admit, most of MY people are alter-egos. Heh. Totally love this one Charlie!!!
