Autumnal Color Wheel

by Eric Hinkle

myriad paper shards:
hanging chads on
tangled branches,
dangling since
brash winds.

one white bouquet
amidst amber, blush, bluish,
a striking anomaly:
mystifying, magical, alone
in its virginal sparkle.

as all, awaiting
the looming fall:
abstraction:
the dreamy flitter
to an open ground.
