skinned by Ava Bluyou're not fragile
like the glass hanging from your skin;
it is not perfect,
it is not to be admired
the way you jump on my leftovers is pathetic
because your body can never be a canvas,
your body is spread across states,
it is too full to hold onto something new
the ones who run towards you
are running away from me
because i left them needing
and the way you think everything about you
is waterproof is simply a lie
but the best thing you could hope to have
is the worst of what i had
and that is not something to build
poems upon,
as if the seas cannot swallow your heart
and pretend it was an accident
i write of this only as a warning
to you
because i have the time to focus
on how perfect my life is now
and how bitter yours must taste.
