day one of you

by Shonda Creemer

can i write
of us?

the words permeating
those first moments together

the weight of the roses
on my lap
their fragrance
dancing on my soul

the never ending

on tops of bridges
full of purple lights and
strangers meandering

making and
keeping
eye contact

the breeze
the warmth of you
of the moment

reminiscing old memories
making new ones all our own

we talked and shared until
the next day

my arm brushed against yours
on the way home and
the butterflies tickled
my tummy

one embrace

our next new moment

and hoping
dreaming
wishing

that there are more to come

Shondy, I'm so glad that you were able to share day one, and here's to bigger, better, and longer days being shared together!
