it ain't easy

by Charlie Morgan

in the time it took the Moon to grow
half a size larger, the Sun burned
millions of pounds of hydrogen;
itself converted from helium.

as Dylan would say, 'that was yesterday
and yesterday is gone.'

and all who live under its beams and
even the scientists call it "time".

we celebrate Pythargoras, Euclid, Freud,
Einstein, and the best we can do is fawn
at those so accompolished; as they too
exist in a frame of maybes, maybe nots.

admitting their ignorance they hewed-away
at the unknown knowledge of their time.

Kent State and Columbine can't be put into
formulae: algebraics or geometry.

An awesome one-two-three-four-etc punch of imagery and voice. Always a pleasure.
