This Chest of Life

by Tony Whitaker

Please consider I'm 57
I forget shit all the time,
Some sleepless nights I stumble
to the yawning
china queen
often twice

Then again
I tend to ignore what people think
rather what they feel
And I tend to speak
what's on my mind

But more than anything
I treasure friends and family.
From which memories are made
To line this chest of life.

I like the dual meaning in chest you can take here, and the way you've pared it down to the essentials. well done.
