FIGMENTS VIII

by Ken Harnisch

CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE
The Supreme Court has ruled that corporations are people
I’ll believe that when the first one joins up and lays down
Its life for its country.
C’mon, boys! IBM...GE...Exxon Mobil
Who’s first?

FACEBOOK

After my last cow dies
In Farmville I’m pulling up stakes
And moving to the city. My kids will
Just have to email me after that
Or better yet…see me in person!

FACEBOOK REDUX

Where else does a wife, a daughter,
A son, sisters, brothers,
Cousins, nephews,
And those adored and abhorred
Have to be called my “friend?”

I SOMETIMES THINK

I sometimes think
That love, that fickle mistress,
Has deserted me again
But if I’m honest
I’d have to admit I’m
The one who’s walked away
This time and not
Turned my head back once

Author's Note: Four small ones inspired by my muse, E.S.V.M. The idea for "Corporations are People" was inspired by Daniel Ridges. Thank you, Daniel.

The last one rocks, but I gotta love that first one!
