Security

by Jeffrey Parren

Security is the blanket
best worn during cool nights
for comfort and relaxation.

It shall not be donned
during bouts of survival.

These cold winters of life
are better fought
than endured.

So, as I leave
my favorite fleece
in the corner
having thrown it there,
I stand profoundly strong
in this time of squalor.

I'll wear that security
when I feel
somewhat secure,
if ever.

Yes - a nice analogy for something deeper and less tangible.

The following stands out for me -
"I stand profoundly strong
in this time of squalor"
Not a wasted word.

This is wonderfully and artistically done; such a gem!
