And Yet (w/Paganini Jones)

by Ken Harnisch

They speak to me of love, it's gain and joy.
Love never lasts. It's led by lust, a ploy.
And yet, each time I lust I love the more
And oftimes think that lust is what love's for.
Spring's flowers nurtured turn to Autumn's fruits.
Fruit rots, flow'rs die and what is left pollutes.
And yet, October's gold has nurtured me
And in November love has set me free
They tell me of love's height and breadth, and gloss.
I say love's glister always turns to dross
And yet, its colors shimmer all the more
When I wonder longest what love is for
Love never lasts. Love never lasts. It's true
And yet each time it's lost, it springs anew.

Beautiful, hopeful words, and a wonderful rhythm. Lovely.
