Double-Edged Blade

by Erin Jones

Held so tight I can barely twist
To see the smile that curves your lips
Choking from the pressure of your fist
But I’ve no desire to escape your grip

I reach out to caress your face
Longing for the thrill of your embrace
I’ve heard your claim of needing space
But this is one truth I cannot face

I desperately need you right now
I need you to take away my sorrow
You can alleviate my pain somehow
My only comfort when I’m this low

I’ve fallen in love with your chaos
So lost I don’t even feel lost
So willing to suffer any loss
Holding fast no matter the cost

You’re all that matters anymore
The remedy I’ve been searching for
Enveloped by the power of your allure
And you always leave me wanting more

This certainly says a lot of strong, compelling things on that kind of desperate need. It's a good write, to be sure.
