your eyes are made of snow by Ava Blui see winter in your eyes,
i can feel snow coming off your eyelashes
as your face falls closer to mine
there is a gravitational pull around my waist
and i feel your pale arms reaching
i do not waver, i do not shy away
for once, i allow myself to be pulled down,
pulled away from noise and suddenly stop being
the one always lost
your eyes are olive as i watch you share a glass of wine
with my mother
your hands are like new leaves forming on the branches of trees
as you watch little Emily dance
family, that is what it feels like
that is what you feel like
and i know i've never felt that before
your hair looks white in the dark and
i use you as my compass
we will drive all over the country staring at the beauty
we share within, feeding the mischief only we can control
and wondering how the world looked before we existed
your eyes are like winter
but they are never cold and
i am thankful they now stare
at me.
