The Dragon's Lair by Tony WhitakerA serrated peak raises
A warning to those below
A picturesque pike posits
To gore the gullible soul
Who gambles to stand
Upon our mighty mount!
The Alps to the south
Stands guard in its harsh
Stark landscape slowing
Those who dare to game
Our vicious immortal flames.
The gnarled stones surround
Sockets within stone gray walls
The caves of our Keep
For our final few
Where only fools ascend
Beware, out there
Or find us waiting there
Your bodies to fill our bellies
And your bones to dress
Our home
Caught and we will grind
Those who tread our
Steep and craggy path
To possess what lies beneath
Our ageless stretching peak
But to the north we scan
The vast tilled valley below
Where the stone wall face
graces our sacred Mt Pilatus
Six thousand feet straight
Down to a land where once
We ruled all
Now our flame fading
A pestilence awaits
Rising from a greedy seed
those primate infested fields
