In Heaven (For Donna)

by Aaron Blair

In the fields of heaven,
our palms will meet and you will know
all the things I never told you,
all the secrets that sink to
the bottom of a soul, fester there.
You will be made of light,
so that even with my eyes open
I can see you you, a sight
to burn away the darkness,
to wash a black heart clean.
I’ll press a kiss to your face
and hold you so close
that words won’t be necessary.
You’ll feel it through my touch,
how sorry I am that I ever let you go,
and my resolve to keep you with me,
so that I won’t ever lose you again.

Beautiful. Full of hope, potent memories and a constant, tragic image. Fantastic work.

I feel for you, my friend Audrey is missing 9 years this month. A very hard path to walk.
