Governor's Pardon

by Rachelle Howe

Lions loosed from between my teeth
roaring once again roaring through
like oceans of tidal waves,
titles that you’ve loosed the lions
from the gate prison of my ribs my heart again
rattling through the earthquake words
you loosed the lions and I am roaring
at the foot of your bed, up your stomach
into your throat and you’ve loosed me, my love,
you’ve set the guards and bloodhounds
free from my scent but I
crave yours. I crave to
textile you in.

Voracious and beautiful; those last three lines are perfect.
