prayer and meditation by Jared FladelandToday I was walking through a forest,
and I felt my hand holding your hand.
So I found a tree, a redwood with its roots
intertwined with the other trees;
a community dependent on each other.
I placed my hand on the trunk of that tree,
and I sent a prayer down into its roots,
into other trees with deeper roots,
until my prayer penetrated far into the earth
to you,
for you.
I can feel you in every moment,
your thoughts and words:
the hurt and doubt I have caused.
And so I offer you these prayers.
I know I cannot fix you,
but perhaps the trees can,
the dirt can,
and the sky can.
Because I love you with my entire soul,
and when I need to love you even more,
I steal the souls of every blade of grass,
the sun,
and the entire universe
just to give them to you. 08/15/2011 Posted on 08/16/2011 Copyright © 2025 Jared Fladeland
