déjà vu

by Kerowyn Rose

time becomes a tornado
around this insulated, silent
space between us where
you and I are somewhat frozen.
our pupils dilate and contract.
our heart beats stop and stutter.

small gusts of activity slowly
building pressure move around
the periphery of our limerence
gazing to become an eventual
cacophanous activity that circles
our hypnotic paralysis - time
within time stopped for you and I.

your eyes are a drug in this now
angry twisting of time that howls
and blows in our sensitive ears.
people, weather, day and night
blur by before we even notice.

this moment stretched forever...
now broken by the laughter of a
passerby and time has folded
back upon itself to free us from
this spell; until we meet again
as though we never met before
the slate wiped clean for another day.

You have such a fantastic skill for the details, and that's especially true of the second and third stanzas. Lovely work.
