youth's ensemble

by Charlie Morgan

a river of thoughts[and toting-
to the brim-] emotions-amok carry
us through another day, lifetime.

yet, continuity is the glue of meaning;
and the very thing that haunts altzeimer,
in the loss of it. MTWRF? 1, 2, 4:30? HUH?

so a gleeful existence is easily escapable;
just become enamored with the plebian facade
of worth, value, essence--character!

worship heighth; bodies! cars, houses,
dresses, shoes, accroutrements of bling.
an' ne'r face the shine of reality.

the definers of youth, all in full-swing!
free will seems optional to our wardrobe.
yet is youth's full-dress ensemble.

Author's Note: ...every year, while feeling i've grown, i'm also of the mind, it is painful to grow, sometimes.
