Of Cello, Flute and Poetry

by Paganini Jones

If the poem I would want to write were
music, would you linger, listen, lost in
thought? As it ended would you wait for more
in silent thought before recovering
your poise enough to smilingly retreat?

I long to write a poem full of words
that resonate with cello's soul and depth,
with high arpeggios in major thirds
that flute of joy in all it's length and breadth.

But would you hurry past to chase some fad,
ears stopped to anything this busker plays
because the place is wrong, the timing bad,
the tune too colourful (or full of greys);
or simply, hungry rush away to eat?

Author's Note:
As always, grasping at something more, something I have neither the words nor the music for at the moment.

It is what we all grasp for - the thoughtful images in words that make someone stop and say 'oh yes'. Nicely done lady. And we all miss what we aim for most of the time.

Nice.I like the way you posed the questions at the end of stanzas. To me, there is the content and then there are the sounds the words form...combining the two to work together is quite a masterful feat to accomplish and what makes a poem a masterpiece, as well as makes one stop to listen.

It can be a good journey though, if you're getting pieces out of it like this. Loved it.
