Immovable

by Rachelle Howe

Once, you were the wet sands between
toes which squishanddig under nail,
once the permeated intention in my flesh’s
cracksandcrevasses.
Once I was washed into your tidal wave,
captured in the tide of you and yet now
you crash against my fortress
to corrode, corrupt, and ruin--
But I will not be stirred.
I will not be stirred
once.

This is you, this is the strength of you. You say it's been hard to find words, but this is beautiful.
