No Edges To Draw Near by Michael DefriesThere are no edges
to draw near
or be encompassed
by;
Not the reaches
of distant planets
In our home
away from here;
The sandy beaches
roaming across
Crimson skies
and majestic blue;
Your pupils dilated
as the heart flutters
sending my aroma back
To the memories
of you In my arms.
The scent of you
The feeling of you
in my stomach
My thirst
For the water of you
in the atoms of my Universe.
The passing of moons by suns dying
and born were slow thawing of
Indian summers and fields of grain
As the mind of wind touches
The illusive stars on the tips of the
waving grasses, and the melody
Of you has returned home.
Then I remember
the promise your
lips made across
willing
and the knowing
of my blessed
soul
was only the grace
of your smile
pressed upon
my atoms
the soft plums
of my immortal;
The face without
your empire
as a grain of sand
follows the wind.

Posted by Paul Lastovica on 07/06/11 at 10:36 PM I like what you've done with this - to my eyes it's fresh; and I enjoyed how you took a group of familiar words and tilted them in just the right ways: "the face without your empire" is especially nice, and so is "the promise your lips made across". |
