Once More Again

by John D Uzzell

I dreamed different today,
Came to me in a sigh
My eyes wide open
I was floating through the sky

I looked below,
I saw what once was
Dreaming of a time
Nothing but love

I remember that house
Where we began to know
Growing to an age
Where every child goes

Running down the street
Meeting memories for today
Always wanted to go back
I guess I found my way

Wait, that’s not where I was,
What kind of dream is this?
How can I get here from there?
Laying flat, awakened with a kiss

What happened with now?
Why is everyone here?
You thought I had gone
I can see the fear

That’s what it was
Life as it went
I may have passed
Only seconds was I sent

Returned as I have
How did I rate this?
I haven’t finished yet
What’s next, how do I live?

My world, my life
Surrounding me here
Keep your eyes open
Forward motion with no fear

Seeing the other side
What’s waiting for me?
If not now
Again I will see

The time that once was
Where this all began
I would live it exactly the same
Once more again.

A lot of heavy questions up for grabs. I like that the aim of this piece seems to be to simply sort them out rather than figure everything out before dusk. Fine work.
