Self-awareness is not the new black by Wayne TateBeing self-aware is not the new black.
It is the stone
digging into my heal
as I tread thousands of paths
knowing they all lead
in the same direction. 07/02/2011 Posted on 07/03/2011 Copyright © 2025 Wayne Tate

Posted by David Maurice on 12/01/12 at 06:48 PM Truly wondering; Did you use the word 'heal' instead of 'heel' purposefully to emphasize the pain of being alienated? My mind keeps seeing this finish. 'knowing they all deal/with the same direction'. because I desperately want to rhyme here for some reason. Good poem, a bit haunting in the sentiment and feel. Thanks for the read. |
