Loved in the good way

by Kimberly Bauer

You could be cold like ice baby, and I would take it.
Leave prickly goose-bumps all over my body and I wouldn't even flinch.

You could be sharp like a thorn baby, and I would take it.
Let it scratch my skin from head to toe, just to let it as it pleased.

You could be sour like candy baby, and I would take it.
Never hear a kind word again and pretend they simply don't exist.

You could be mean baby, and I would take it.
I have become used to the pain of a neglecting love.

You could be all these things baby, but you could never do it.
You warm me with kindness and cherish me with kisses.
You consider me in all actions and you love me..

in the good way.

Sometimes I don't know how to take it.
I wait for the other shoe to fall, wait for the moment when I lose it all.
My subconscious waits for what it thinks I deserve.
But you won't do that, baby.

You have my heart and you keep it safe. I tahk every day that I have the sweetest most loveable you...

...even knowing thta you don't have to.
