Endless Cycle

by Lydian Beck

Snap back to reality
Every time it leaves me defenseless
Sigh at the moment of clarity
Awake, come back to my senses

I conjure up these elaborate plots
Picture myself far from here
Slip from consciousness and get lost in thought
It’s so real, it feels so near

The worst part is when I realize
How crazy and impossible these schemes
It’s all gone when I open my eyes
Why can’t they be more than just dreams?

I become bitter like an endless winter
No spring in sight just biting wind
Chilled to the core, my center
This cycle never ends

I spill my guts in this poetry
I don’t know what else to do
Pray for an endless symmetry
Cause right now I’m mirroring you
