"If You're Out There"

by Max Phineas

With a rare talent of speaking
too loud, too little, too long
I often lose my voice
and find it in a song.
I dreamed of playing pro ball
But at five-foot-one, came up a bit short.
A belief that life requires a helmet
But rain falls best sans umbrella.
Long-time listener
No-time caller
Seeking someone with patient ears
Innate sense of rhythm
A tandem trike
and dust-caked rain boots.
