the sneakiest kind of mean

by Maria Francesca

Is that the one,
I ask you directly,
the one making sheep eyes
while I was away?

the one making double
and triple entendres
and hanging on each little word
that you say?

I ask you out loud
as she passes our stoop,
without seeming aggressive
or making a scene.

I simply smile sweetly
and kiss your bare shoulder -

girls are the sneakiest kind of mean.

It's cute how she wears
the most whimsical fashions,
I tell you as if it was only us two;

it's cute how her breasts are little lopsided
and how her behind is a little askew

and it's bold for a girl
to go flaunting her wares
like a hussy
from out of some cheap magazine.

The message is sent
and received in an instant -

girls are the sneakiest kind of mean.
