Completion

by Kosta Gkekas

The day I first gazed upon her image was the beginning
that old, familiar forgotten emotion coursed through my veins
feelings, needing, longing romantic trysts
and this from a pixelated image on a created page.

blonde colored hair formed a halo of beckoning around a perfect face
a face perfect in every sense, perfect for me
almond shaped eyes sparkled in the lights
dancing with glee as if hiding secrets that were meant to be discovered by me.

trembling trepidation sparked within
do i dare, do i once again strive to find that which everyone wants
do i again seek the fire and play the game of life or death
for what does a man win if not for his tenacity?

decision made and waiting, cold night, lights, festive strangers
waiting at the curb for her arrival after pushing for the meeting
i turn first left then right, watching for a stranger to approach
waiting for a familiar stranger who i knew so well without ever knowing.

finally there, like a goddess from the darkness she rose
stepping lightly, floating, closer
the image did little justice
be still my aching heart, for this could be the moment all ends.

a greeting, slow and measured
a glance into eyes that drowned me
a smile upon lips i yearned to touch
a voice that made sanity flee into emptiness.

months pass, and emotions grow
ever present is the danger that what is may not be
i cannot falter at this moment
i cannot lose my strength for without her i am lost

that first kiss atop the mountain
a simple, lingering press of lips against lips
the world ceases to exist for that one instant
that one moment where two breaths, two souls became one.

the moment of completion.
