Chemistry

by Mo Couts

As a science it’s defined as the study of matter, energy, and their interrelationships
With the focus being on energy.
But, when I apply chemistry to us
It means the same, but different
You see, the chemistry we share
Is the energy that flows between our fingertips when we touch,
The thrilling shock that I feel every time you kiss me.
How when you are with me, I have no other matter to take care of.
I’ve learned everything I ever need to know about chemistry from you.
I’m learning about energy and how sparks fly
Just like they always do with us.
I’m learning about weight as well
And how heavy my heart is when we aren’t together.
I’m learning about space,
And how empty my life would be without you.
Magnetic forces are another thing,
As I know I’m magnetically bound to you.
Oh sweet chemistry, thank you for bringing us together.
And thank you, darling for being the best teacher.
