Standing On a Hill, Talking to Her Son

by Ariane Scott

Listen:
Learning myself inside your smile
refined my love,
my sense of flesh,
rectified my past and my present
is forever you,
a fire on my hands.

Now roll down this hill
with thrashing arms
and seeing eyes and when you rise
do it again, do it again,

Do it again.
