Draggin' Me Down

by James Blaylock

Draggin' Me Down

as the ultra bright sun shone down,
so low were his thoughts - of himself

he'd trod the worn city streets, just seeking,
but was he after a ride, a meal, or just a friend?

because the toughness of this life were indeed getting the best of him,
and his shoulders could only store so much, a minute amount, more

so he dragged all he owned, the worldly, beside
him... within his bag of so many ripened burdens
