a month of tittering depressive spells

dose upon dose of some drug or another

the balls of the feet electric, bouncing

hectoring me onward

blackouts at faintly important

junctures – have i risen enough

to stop ?


the editor’s desk is irate – mouthfuls

of mush are better than nothing at all


& so here i go at cannonball rhythm

heels clucking in my sneakers

prodding me onto something
