a litany of injustice
brought forth on broken backs.

It was as he said
that for every man
a woman shall cry in vain.

It was as she said
that the torment of love
could no longer be handled.

It was as it said
the sign above room
where dreams trickled down sinks.

It was as was said
that every soul has a voice
and every voice needs an ear.
