redefine: Mother's Day

by Aaron Michael

time is made irrelevant
with the sort of power you have.

the tear you trace on my cheek
it's begged for by others and
even though I cannot remember the sound
the last time you said
you loved me, that you did, once,
and then were wrenched and broken and
beautiful
and then were wrenched and broken and
you loved me, that you did, once.
the last time you said
even though I cannot remember the sound
it's begged for by others.

the tear you trace on my cheek,
with the sort of power you have,
time is made irrelevant.

Author's Note: you truly never can let go a love so strong as that between a mother and child. Nor should you.
