Olivia, like a snake in the night

by Jolie Jordan

You are not graceful.
I am aging
and not like my mother.

I am
seven again,
unable to fix things,
or get what I want.

Do not ask me to scrape my teeth against this wall,
stop pulling me down, dulling me down
or leaving me behind. (same thing really.)

I have no time for you, for sex, for making plans
anymore. I closed my opened heart.
Your eyes tell me lies,
I spit goodbyes.

If you wrote a novel, I'd read it. (Hi back!)
