Twister by Lisbeth Blackthe flag on the pole only shows when the wind blows
too low against the rooftops outside my window
just a quiet reminder of all we lost
but the royal wedding was the news
so who had time to send a crew
to alabama?
who could cram all that tragedy
into a national news story?
apparently no one, not for long.
now the lost pets make me cry
and in Tennessee photos fall from the sky
and we were so lucky
just watching the rotation move to the next state
instead of losing everything. we can forget the date
no anniversaries of misery
just painful, useless, rankling sympathy. 05/08/2011 Author's Note: For the tornado victims human and otherwise. If you aren't in the south you probably don't know how bad it really was.
