the whisper streets by Cole Atkinsondo you hear it?
the wind is blowing just right
and with it comes the song
of societal upheaval.
under the whisper streets
cracked lips sigh a cracked tune,
and the despot is overturned.
he becomes legend
between the walls of his demise
and his chosen circumstance,
but who are we to deny him his
right to self-service?
"the monster is dead!"
the people shout,
running over sandy cobblestone avenues.
"the monster is dead at last!"
they sing,
but in truth--
the monster never dies.
