tonight

by Peter Humphreys

tonight
I didn't sit down
to watch the news
or stand up either!
I went into the garden
sat beneath my elder trees
looked up through their
waving branches and leaves
flower buds just emerging
and wondered what this world
will be like when I am gone
and the children carry on
still the same crazy cruel
yet wonder-filled place
for that I am sure
I have done my best
clearly not enough
but tonight
with Triona
purring on my lap
I will just
close my eyes
and rest awhile
why not try that now
yourself
and always remember
where 'er you are
and where ever you may be
He is the Lord of the Dance
not thee

La poesia preferita che mi ha tenuta compagnia questa sera. La sento così vicina...E' bellissima in tutti i sensi.

What a relaxed wisdom you display. Great to read you again, best as always for your health and peace, Peter. G
