Remnants

by Kosta Gkekas

Entering timidly into an empty home
the scent of you lingers still, permeating breath
i melt with the knowledge of losing you
your memory still burns, it sickens my soul
i cannot stand this nightly journey of death
tell me where would i find the courage to face you again
every night, lava filled tears are cried
how i betrayed love sears my heart
my eyes lifting to the heavens high above my hades
twin glasses upon this tabletop
life continues with games of mirth
i drink from each a burning flame
however, how can i find salvation
the tears through flesh slicing diamond paths
blinding me as i deserve to be blinded
i plead to the full moon above me
how can i find the strength to face the past
the orbital discus above holding remnants of what was lived
what was said
what was lost
a friendship
a love
a passion
a dream
a remnant within the moon

Loved it!! My favorite line is "my eyes lifting to the heavens high above my hades" Perfect choice for POTD.
