Whispers of the Willow

by James Zealy

Whispers of the willow
Gesture in silken grace
As the Maiko glides
With ease from dance to song

Weaving soothing images
Of fantasy and care
In effortless synergy
Symbolic of a dieing culture

With each caressing adjective
Wrapped gently around
Broken spirits she grasps
The beauty that is Geisha

As she grows to her training
A magnetic musical smile
Penetrates the depths
Of her patrons hopelessness

Her Balm of quiet strength
Paints a layer of compassion
That accompanies her practice
Of art and music

With each gentle artistic stroke
A spirit arises that responds
To her flexible resiliance in kind
Gentle as whispers of the willow

Gentle and gliding, a smooth and beautiful ride.
