i wanted to be like him by Charlie Morganhe glided across campus. white
dress-shirt sleeves rolled-up
pronouncing loudly "cool!".
pretentions lay at his feet,
like the asphalt he ran on
getting to Binion Hall-girls
dorm for sophs and frosh.
he was a near-junior, his aplomb
of life already that of a grown-up man.
i wanted to be just like him for years;
a time came when he optioned for suicide.
it was then i no longer wanted to be like him. 04/25/2011 Posted on 04/25/2011 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan
