Forget about who I deserve, I want...you

by Carolyn Coville

I met a lawyer today.
I must admit, I was quickly interested,
especially since his blue button-down shirt
matched his eyes beautifully.
But, I was bored just as quickly,
by his lack of social skills and
inability to maintain conversation.

I dated a man taking graduate courses in math, briefly.
He was more into abstract algebraic equations
than my intimate feelings.

I've talked with a CEO at a bar, for 45 freakin' minutes about this and that,
but than he mentioned his ex-girlfriend in his buzzed speech.
Embarrassed by my blank reaction, he excused himself, and
I never saw him again.

What I'm trying to say is...

Your educational level and job rank
may not be the highest of the high,
but I think the world of you,
and would never trade in our laughter and pillow talk
for the Donald Trumps of the world.

...carolyn, a cool write. machine-gunning the truth made-up of lil truths. we seek a harmonic balance, eh?

ah, such a beautiful sentiment. Carolyn..I wish all felt like you and that the Donald Trumps of the world would just go where all loud, bleating, self-aggrandizing wanna be's should: the elephant graveyard...:)
