my dilemma is life; hurting, hurling
broken hearts, lives. a celebration.
until death.

my hurting dog, the one with a limp,
is nearly my favorite of the three
but all are nose to nose for my heart.

now, i exalt dogs; crown them Kings.
all the people take a step down; we learn
signs for sit, stay, and roll over.

last trick learned will be play dead.
