Tomorrow

by Ymelda Ramirez

Tomorrow,
I told myself,
I WILL tell you everything.
I confess how my heart aches for you.
How deeply my feelings for you are rooted.
You consume my sleepless nights and restless days.

Tomorrow,
I’ve built up the courage to say,
What my eyes tell you
With each passing day that you are close.
You will know that my pillow holds your scent
As powerfully as the earth circles the sun.

Tomorrow,
I will let it spill out.
You will witness my love for you.
How my days are numbered without you.
Each breath is a struggle as each
Dream is impossible without your presence.

Tomorrow,
You will finally see,
The only constant I want in life
Is to be more than just a friend.
To see myself reflected through your hidden heart,
The object of your admiration and desires.

Tomorrow,
The unspoken back and forth shared,
Between our detailed history will
Finally become current events.
The desperate crutch we once laid upon
Will not transfer over into our futures.

Today,
Your soul will admit if we are
Something stronger than just a friendship.
Your eyes will look into mine and the
Words will flow out, slowly but tenderly.
Regardless, my heart beats for your happiness.

This certainly does capture a strong sense of possibility and looking ahead. I really enjoyed it.
