life: grand plie-boogie

by Charlie Morgan

life's ballet disturbed by birth;
all stumbling begins; post neonasis.
adagio, so restful; allegro, forever.
look stage left, shhhh it's begun!

a present, a package. soft down;
price tag for life outside the womb:
everything thing you have or will,
is on the line; fortunately, everyday.

mama, dada, right, wrong, good, bad;
isms that create charcter, form ideas.

we look for the just-right tu tu;
to go with our eyeliner, our knees
bleed from the travels of years.

as i get ready for my grand plie-boogie,
other younger ones are coming in;
disturbing my balance; but, only a second.

my dance is not complete; dictations from
my core, my selfish gene in action.
my eyes focus on the edge of where all
tomorrows are born. i find the crack.

start prying it open, hoping to find
all the tomorrows remaining.
