a quickie in absentia

by Charlie Morgan

she watered her grass; jeans painted-on;
we were miles away from each other;

i was on the east side,
she was on the west side;

the street was wide.

my ashes of youth smoldered, i twisted my wedding band.

went home. watered my grass. still feeling warm.
