days of liking it

by Charlie Morgan

days of this life trail-by, leaving nostalgia
draped across low-hanging limbs,
you can get on the way back.

these memories of how everything was;
once. when knights wore armour of care;
rightousness toted ankle-length robes.

pastures were verdant, lush, full of myth;
kings were benelovent; Maid Marian lived.
a time invented for every generation.

the kudzu of mans' ills chokes life from youth.
a parade of one boasts, a silent, telling look;
a side-glance sees past days, days of liking it.

I love the word "verdant", and the way you weave your other choices.
