Out of the Darkness

by Mark Maxey

From behind the corner
In the darken hall
The image grew larger
Out of the darkness
You existed

Crumpled and thrown away
Left to rot in a forgotten house
Lingering memories that were hell
Strangled by words not spoken

Raising up from the ashes
But once again the phoenix lives
Only to be swallowed by the masses
Huddled outside in the snow

Images pass as if a movie scene
The screen burns with irony
Screaming for stillness
The movement of time lingers

Tomorrows dreams are today’s nightmare
Quenched by unnerving circumstances
Twisted debris locked in cobwebs
Soaked by dried blood stained sins

Overcome by sheer exhaustion
The end is near or so it seems
Another puppet on a string
Dangled by a thin wire
It breaks free

Moving past the obstacles
The small young lad is free
Free to be who he dreamt he would be
Suddenly the sun bursts through the clouds
The heavy rain pour is stifled in mid drench

The chaotic world is now turned
Upside down and inward to outward
Determined to be changed
Of mystical dimensions

Another dawn is breaking
Another lad is freed from chains
Voices carry over the winds
Signaling a new horizon
Yet to be discovered

...and on and on and on...ad infinitum, eh? a sensitive, bold write. being a parts-per-person, well said.
