Apsis | Atonement : Two Bodies One by Richard PaezApsis | Atonement : Two Bodies One
At One Moment {I Wake to Dream I Wake}
I Dream :
To reach out, touch
in fingertip communion,
interlocking fingerprints entwined
as palm slides across palm,
wrist against wrist
pulse matching pulse –
Two hands folding
in visceral telepathy, tracing
one wordless, choral prayer
reverberating liaisons:
two bodies, one Eucharist
speaking in shared voice –
: To Wake :
To reach out now,
palm against palm, when
you’re just a breath,
just a hand’s width away
to hold out
for propriety’s sake,
for goodness’ sake,
now, when goodness
is nothing
but the everything
that is your hand in mine
[at(one{mo}ment)]
Our pending contact,
imminent communion,
forsworn Eucharist
circling this stretching moment
gravity and inertia
to hold out
: I Dream
or god, please,
to give in
dive the flood,
to see distance
and resistance
swept away –
slippery slopes,
cascade failures,
to revel in beautiful apocalypse
framed by celestial collapse:
apogee and periapsis
simultaneously so close
and so far
{I dream to wake I dream | I wake to dream I wake}
